Tuesday night my student's moms hosted a dinner for my lead teacher and I. It was at a great restaurant and wonderful night! They were so sweet and toasted to my lead leaving and congratulated me on being the new lead! We have a great group of moms who are so thoughtful and have been so helpful! And not to mention they each have adorable kiddos! I personally don't have any pictures from the night, but the moms took plenty so hopefully I'll have some soon!
Wednesday evening was a very special night as Shane's cousin, Amy, graduated from high school! That evening will always stand out to me, it was so sweet and honored some very special kids. Amy was so excited and loved every minute of the night! We had a dinner before the ceremony with aunts and uncles, and grandparents, and lots of cousins. Then we went over to the school's gym for the ceremony that included a processional, great video of all the kids, sweet words full of pride for these kids' growth, a walk across the stage, receiving of a diploma, and a recessional where Amy held up the line because she wanted to give everyone hugs with tears in her eyes. She was proud and she should be! There was a reception afterwards with cake and punch. All in all a very special night for a very special girl!
bad smell in the kitchen area, well the whole living room really. We'd heard and seen evidence of a mouse so we put out D-kon and well I guess one didn't make it out of the house before it died. So the exterminator went to work treating the house and trying to pin point the stench. He has to come back tomorrow to treat it again and probably a third time because weThursday... wow what a whirl wind day its been! After school and my last Lunch Bunch (an after school social program that lets the kids eat lunch together and play until 2) I rushed home to meet Shane who was home early to meet an exterminator. We woke up this morning to quite a apparently have not a mouse problem but a mice problem. Its really no surprise because we have a cabinet maker on the other side of our back fence and he has several wood piles... basically a mouse paradise.
Yuck!
Shane had planned on coming home early (not quite as early as he did with the mouse problem) because we bought a new couch!!! It was a completely random as we went to Sams on Sunday for a few items and we saw this couch... yep we bought a couch from Sams. Shane's grandfather would be so proud. Its actually the perfect couch for us. Shane loves sectionals, me not so much. This is a sectional, but its unusual as it curves and has two ottomans. Its super deep which Shane's been wanting (he really didn't fit on our old couch) and its a great color that will work wherever we end up next! We had to rent a U-Haul to pick it up from a Sams in Friendswood (south of Houston). So, while the exterminator was at the house with me, Shane went and picked up the couch which took four men to load into the U-Haul... yea its huge!
The couch!

New furniture is always super exciting, huh? (: Your sectional looks super nice. Maybe next time I'm at Sams, I'll find one and sit down and pretend I'm at your house. (: It's HARDLY a sectional - I love the way it looks. It's definitely classic, but modern enough that it doesn't look stale. Awesome! (:
Love the new page design too - this is a really nice template. (:
I finished the first 3 pieces of furniture finally. I have yet to email you pictures due to the fact that the ones I took are craaaappppppy. I keep thinking I'll try again in better light - but it's been cloudy, and I've been lazy. Or busy. Whichever.
But soon. (:
Have a good weekend. Can't wait to read about it!
Claire! Yea! I can't wait to see your finished furniture! Crappy pictures or not send them my way soon!
Thanks for the compliments on the couch... I've already taken a nap on it and am loving it more as I get used to it in the room.
So... I know we haven't actually met in person, but I would love to change that if possible! We have tickets to ACL and hopefully will make it to Austin there sometime this summer as well.
Hope all is well and that you enjoy your weekend too!
