This is from a while back, but definitely want to include our quick little weekend trip to
Oklahoma City, OK in February.
{It's only about 4 hours NE of Amarillo, and the last time I'd been there was just passing through on my way to Kanakuk! So needless to say it'd been a while!}
We didn't have any plans for the weekend, so we loaded up and headed out for a family trip!
We didn't make it but an hour outside of town and
Claire was already over having to sit in her car seat.
I was ready to throw in the towel and head back home, but sweet Canyon
pulled over at the tiniest little gas station, picked up some snacks.
We let Claire walk around and stretch her legs a bit, and we loaded back up,
stuffed Claire with Cheeto puffs along the way,
and eventually made it to Oklahoma City safe and sound
{with a very happy but very orange child}
We checked into The Skirvin, a beautiful hotel in downtown Oklahoma City.
It was built 100 years ago, but was also newly renovated, it was perfect!
We splurged and stayed in a suite, which are actually in the curved part of the building you see in the picture above. These pictures are from the website but this is exactly what our room looked like.
Claire LOVED having all that room to run around and explore
{These were taken Saturday morning}
Especially the glass wall shower with no door...
We went over to
Bricktown {an area with great restaurants, pubs, and bars...} and ended up at Bass Pro Shop. Claire loved the large aquarium with fish, but wasn't too sure what to think about all the stuffed animals decorating the store.
We made our wall to the Penn Square Mall and grabbed dinner at
Cantina Laredo.
Claire loved the guacamole being made table side.
We woke up Saturday morning, fed Claire breakfast

and headed down to the pool!
{This was probably what we looked forward to most about this trip!}
Here's another website photo
We didn't take our phones with us, but we ended up "swimming" in the hot tub as it was like bath water and just perfect for Claire!
After swimming we headed back upstairs for Claire's morning nap
while we got dressed and ready to head out.
We went to a few antique stores though we didn't find anything before heading to the outlet mall. Definitely found a few things there, and by the end of it Claire had had enough of her stroller, so we let her walk around.
So happy to be free!
Its funny looking back at this as she's so much more sturdy and strong when walking.
movie:
She also wanted to push her stroller instead of riding in it, can't really blame her though!

We packed up and while headed back we came across a
Garden Ridge!
Goodness, I miss that store from my Houston days.
They have just a few rugs to look through...
Claire found her favorite
movie:
We also went to
Mathis Brothers furniture. A HUGE furniture store with a great selection, too bad we weren't really looking for furniture, but it was still fun to look through and will definitely be good to know for in the future!
Claire loved their push carts!
After the long day, Claire {who NEVER sleeps in the car, or anywhere else other than her crib} actually fell asleep in the car on the way back to the hotel. We were looking for some dinner so we just went back to the hotel's restaurant, which was amazing!
truffle oil pomme frites, an amazing chocolate dessert, and a great glass of wine!
It as a fancy restaurant where children aren't really invited,
but thankfully our worn out little girl slept the meal away in her car seat:
{She seriously hasn't done that since she was like 6 months old!}
She woke up just as our dessert arrived, which we ended up just getting it go and headed back up to our room. Fed her some dinner and put her to bed!
The next morning, we were up early thanks to our precious little alarm clock,
so we packed up and headed home.
We went through Garth Brooks' home town just outside Oklahoma City
... they're quite proud of that fact!
Thankfully, this leg of the trip was much smoother than the first
with a quick stop for some lunch and play time for Claire to run around
and even check out a huge bus {she loved the wheels}
we made it home with one tired and happy little girl!
All in all it was a great, quick get away for our little family!
